As many gather this day with their families and loved ones around a bountiful dinner we want to extend the opportunity to also reflect on the people who to this day are afflicted by colonization and colonialist living.

• 1 in 4 Native American homes do not have enough food to eat and have the highest rates of food scarcity.

• Native Americans have to drive 3 times further to get groceries and provisions and 85% of the food available on reservations is packed and processed with little fresh food available. This has led to many medical ailments that afflict the reservations today.

• Most treaties made between the US government and Native people were broken. The treaties were based on the fundamental idea that each tribe was an independent nation, with their own right to self-determination and self-rule. But as white settlers began moving onto Native American lands, this idea came into conflict with the relentless pace of colonization. This simply translates to the fact that we are all on stollen land. If you think that this is an issue of the past please know that to this date 1 in every 3 Natives live in poverty and suicide is the leading cause of death on reservations between the ages of 15-24.

For the rest of this month we will be donating a part of our sales to The Native American Rights Fund. You do not have to purchase anything to give to this organization. We will be adding a link to the page to donate as well. We will be matching the first 5 donations done this way in hopes to give as much as we can to an organization that protects Native American rights.
